Check if there is a test report for the performance of the sound-absorbing panel
In theory, any material has sound insulation properties, even a thin sheet of printing paper can provide sound insulation. Therefore, many ordinary materials on the market are referred to as sound-absorbing panels by manufacturers, including gypsum board, magnesium board, calcium silicate board, wooden board, etc., which makes consumers easily deceived. One of the most important principles when choosing a sound-absorbing panel is whether the panel has an authoritative testing report. The most authoritative wall sound insulation testing report units in China include the Institute of Building Acoustics at Tsinghua University and Tongji University. Many manufacturers in the market are promoting the performance of their sound-absorbing panels, but they are unable to provide authoritative testing reports to confirm. All sound-absorbing panels and soundproofing coatings are tested at Tsinghua University and Tongji University, and official testing reports are issued indicating the sound insulation effect of the wall composed of the sound-absorbing panels. If a sound-absorbing panel is advertised for its good sound insulation performance but cannot provide a formal testing report, consumers must worry. Secondly, it is also important to pay attention to whether the sound-absorbing panels sold by the manufacturer and the samples sent for testing are the same product. If the samples sent for inspection are thickened, weighted, made of different materials, or specially treated, and the actual sold samples are different products, then the sold products will obviously not meet the sound insulation values indicated in the testing report. In this regard, consumers should pay attention to identifying the qualifications, credit, and reputation of manufacturers, and try to avoid being deceived as much as possible.
Check if the installation of the sound-absorbing panel is simple
In order to achieve good sound insulation, the installation method of sound-absorbing panels must be very simple, otherwise it is difficult to achieve the ideal sound insulation effect. Professional acoustic engineers are aware that if a wall is tested in the laboratory to provide sound insulation of X decibels, it often only provides sound insulation of X-2 decibels or even lower in practical engineering. There are two main reasons why the sound insulation value of the wall in actual engineering is lower than the laboratory test value: including the lateral sound transmission problem in actual engineering, and the installation quality of the wall panels in actual engineering is not as good as that of professionals in the laboratory. Therefore, the installation of sound-absorbing panels must be simple, otherwise the on-site installation personnel will definitely make mistakes, resulting in the wall's sound insulation value not meeting the sound insulation target. For example, elastic horizontal bars were once widely used in the United States as a good sound insulation method and product. Using elastic horizontal bars in the laboratory can improve the sound insulation effect of lightweight gypsum board walls by 5-10 decibels. However, in practical engineering, installation workers often cannot accurately install the boards on the elastic horizontal bars, resulting in very limited improvement in the actual sound insulation effect of the walls.
Check the thickness and weight of the sound-absorbing panel
There are some ordinary sound-absorbing panels on the market that increase the thickness and weight of the wall panels in order to improve the sound insulation effect. While this method can improve the sound insulation effect to a certain extent, it brings many disadvantages: (1) low sound insulation efficiency (i.e., the increase in sound insulation volume), because according to the laws of physics, doubling the surface density of the panel theoretically can only increase the sound insulation volume by up to 6 decibels; The wall surface density increases fourfold, but the maximum sound insulation can only increase by 12 decibels. (2) The thicker the wall panel, the more space it occupies, and the more precious living space people lose. (3) The heavier the wall panel, the more difficult it is to install; And the wall panels are too heavy, so we also need to consider whether the floor can withstand them. (4) The thicker and heavier the wall panels, the more raw materials are used to produce them, the higher the wall panel price, the higher the installation cost, and the higher the value of the lost living space, resulting in a higher overall project cost. Acoustic panel is a type of sound insulation material based on a completely new sound insulation principle. Its significantly improved sound insulation effect is not achieved by increasing weight and thickness. In fact, the thickness of the acoustic panel is only 18 millimeters, or even thinner. However, the sound insulation effect of the light steel keel wall composed of it can reach 53 decibels. With a suitable wall combination scheme, the sound insulation effect of the wall can even reach 80 decibels. This type of sound-absorbing panel not only has the best sound insulation effect among sound-absorbing panel products of the same thickness and weight in the market, but also has many times better sound insulation effect than any sound-absorbing panel of the same thickness and weight.
How long can the sound insulation effect be maintained
There are some sound-absorbing panels on the market that are made by installing rubber layers, vibration reducing materials, or soundproofing felt between two panels. Using this method can improve the soundproofing effect to a certain extent in the short term, but its soundproofing effect will gradually decrease over time. As is well known, materials such as rubber will gradually age in the air, causing them to become harder and lose their elasticity, resulting in a gradual decrease in sound insulation effect over time. On the other hand, the practice of installing a rubber layer or soundproofing felt layer between two boards also has a very high engineering cost. A sound-absorbing panel is a new type of polymer material that is compounded between two panels through a special process. The performance of this material remains unchanged throughout its life, and the sound insulation effect will not decrease for at least 50 years. The Zhilv acoustic sealant used to seal gaps on walls also maintains its viscoelasticity for life, never cracking or deforming, and its sound insulation effect will never decrease.
Check the strength, waterproofing, and fire resistance of sound-absorbing panels
While improving the sound insulation effect of the wall, it is also necessary to pay attention to other performance of the wall, such as whether the strength of the newly built sound insulation wall or the renovated sound insulation of the old wall meets the requirements. If you want to hang heavy objects on the wall, such as flat screen TVs, large oil paintings or photo frames, large decorative lights, etc., the wall panel needs to have a certain strength and be able to withstand a certain weight. If there are many people indoors or a large flow of people, the wall panels need to have strong impact resistance and high strength to prevent people from hitting the wall panels and causing them to crack. If the wall panel is close to damp areas such as faucets and bathrooms, it needs to have good waterproof performance. If the wall requires high fire resistance (such as walls and ceilings in kitchens and garages), it is necessary to choose sound-absorbing panels that are both soundproof and fire-resistant. The currently launched sound-absorbing panel 458 not only has several times higher sound insulation effect than similar products, but can easily achieve a sound insulation effect of over 53 decibels for a single keel wall. In addition, the strength of the sound-absorbing panel 458 is much higher than that of gypsum board of the same thickness, and its fire resistance is also significantly improved. If customers have higher requirements for strength, waterproofing, mold prevention, and fire resistance, we can also provide customers with different products and solutions.
